About mainland

I strongly advise to visit the Meteora region! A good option is to go camping there, and visit the area with a rented car.
At the end of the project, when we had a bit more free time, we had the opportunity to travel to many regions in Greece. We started with a trip from Athens to Zakynthos, via the Peloponese and its Corinth Canal. For this we rented a car in Athens. We did compare several companies, the one offering the best service was Europcar (in 2022 approximately 25-30e/day). We then booked a ferry with a place for the car to the island of Zakynthos. Driving in Greece is similar as it is in France, in general all road users complying with the traffic laws. Greek highways are just as well maintained as those in France, and most of them are free of charge :-) We then visited the Meteoras at the North of the country (approx. 5h drive from Athens). It was in the Meteoras that I realized the diversity and variety of magnificent landscapes that Greece had to offer.
I advise you to go visit the Meteora in the north of Greece, it's really exceptional ! The landscapes and the monasteries are really splendid. You absolutely have to go to the Roussanou monastery. I also did a road trip in the Peloponnese. I advise you to go to the Epidaurus Theater. Then, I went to see the beautiful city of Nafplio. If you go there, you absolutely have to visit the Palamidi Fortress. I was in a car, the landscapes were really beautiful on the road between Corinth and Sampatiki.
