I advise visiting the historic sites of Athens early in the season, before all the tourists arrive (to avoid long queues under the sun).

The Goulandris museum is really cool.

I visited several museums in Athens, but my favorite was the Goulandris Museum. If you enjoy painting, it's a must-visit! If you're more interested in Greek culture, you'll prefer the Museum of Cycladic Art or the Acropolis Museum.
