About transportation

The city is well deserved by metro and buses, but the trip is quite long to go to the university (ca. 40min from Pangrati). However, I still advise to rent an apartment in the center of Athens despite the distance, because the surroundings of the university have no interest in visiting. You can easily rent a car at Europcar (I advise using well-knowned companies) to explore the mainland. Remember to ask for the UNIWA student card once you arrive at the university. Once received, you should subscribe to the metro/bus, it is cheap and easy to request in the metro shops. With the UNIWA student card, you have a 50% discount on every ferry to any destination, and on some historical sites ! We used this a lot ! You can book ferries on this website : https://www.ferries.gr/en/
Firstly, when you arrive in Athens, I can only advise you to take the X95 bus to the city center and then take the bus or metro to your hotel. (approx. 5e bus | approx. 40e taxi). It is important to apply for a transport card by bringing a school certificate to the transport office in Syntagma. Everything can be done by metro and bus, Athens is incredibly well connected. (use the app Moovit or even Google map). When we needed to take a taxi, we used the app called Taxi Beat (taxis are pretty cheap compared to France).
During an Erasmus, it is interesting to take the student card. During a short internship (2 months), it is not possible to have a student card. I nevertheless advise you to take a monthly transport card.
The metro was very practical, as were the bus lines.
