CHLOE DUCRET

2024
A few words from me:

I'm pretty much a sports and arts addict. When traveling abroad, I love discovering new cultures, starting with tasting the local specialties and learning a few words in the local language.

About Athens:
Definitely a beautiful city! My favorite places to watch the sunset were the Acropolis and Lycabettus Hill.
About food:
This was one of my favorite parts of the trip, I'm not even kidding! The gyros were delicious and very cheap. I could eat them every day! But be careful, they’re not the healthiest option.
About museums:
I visited several museums in Athens, but my favorite was the Goulandris Museum. If you enjoy painting, it's a must-visit! If you're more interested in Greek culture, you'll prefer the Museum of Cycladic Art or the Acropolis Museum.
About transportation:
The metro was very practical, as were the bus lines.
About islands:
I visited Santorini in November, and it was absolutely stunning. The city was nearly empty, making it a calm and peaceful experience. I went to Oia (the most beautiful town), Fira, the Red Beach (amazing, but watch your step!), the Black Beach, and the Akrotiri Lighthouse, which offers a breathtaking view. You must try the kebab at Metaxi Mas restaurant - everything was incredibly tasty!
Best things to do and places to visit:
Athens - Plakaki Café: The best value-for-money brunch, cozy place, and amazing food. - Athena’s Cook: Really tasty. - L’arte del Gelato DaVinci: Incredible ice cream with a special mention for the black vanilla flavor. - Lukumades: Amazing, especially with pistachio on top. - Brettos: The best traditional liqueur you'll ever try. - Goulandris Museum: Features many famous painters, I loved this place. - Museum of Cycladic Art: A great way to learn more about Greek history. Make sure to visit Vouliagmeni, a beautiful spot near Athens where you can eat, hike, and swim. Santorini - Metaxi Mas: Traditional food. I've never had a tastier meal in my life. Absolutely amazing, you must go ! - KooKoo Bar Restaurant: Delicious food as well.
About your expenses:
Restaurants were very diverse. Some touristic spots were quite expensive, but there were also many affordable and tasty options outside the city center.
About your safety:
Like in every capital city, you need to stay vigilant to avoid pickpockets.
About accomodation:
I stayed near the Kerameikos metro station, and the area was calm and safe. It only took me 10 minutes on the metro to reach the city center at Monastiraki. Near my apartment, there was a lively street filled with bars and nightclubs.
About weather:
I was there during November and December and the weather was mild. I was wearing a mid-season coat and a t-shirt in November, a sweatshirt in December.
